Yoga Teacher Trainer
Kathleen Ross
Kathleen began her yoga practice in 1984, as a student living in Kitsilano. She has studied with dozens of inspirational teachers and practiced a variety of yoga styles over the years. Her love of yoga, connecting with people, and training led naturally to the completion of her certification as a yoga teacher.
She has taught all levels of students from first timers to well seasoned yogis at community centres, schools, in corporate settings and outdoors in Vancouver and Mexico. Kathleen has also done volunteer teaching with high level youth sports teams locally, and in Denmark, Sweden, Germany and the U.S. Her yoga teaching style is to create a supportive environment, leading students through a moving meditation with smooth transitions from one posture to the next while remaining focused on the breath.
With a degree in Math & Psychology, Kathleen is naturally analytical and tries to engage both sides of her brain to be able to approach life from a balanced perspective. Throughout her successful career as a strategic marketing, business development and advertising professional, whenever the deadlines and pressures became intense, Kathleen relied on yoga to help her remain grounded and focused on the present moment.
She believes her yoga practice is responsible for much of her success on the many award winning projects and campaigns she`s managed. Some highlights include: overseeing Vancity’s Marketing Communications, Advertising and Web group; and as a Director at the Business Development Bank of Canada, looking after the Western Provinces. She has been involved with the start up and continued growth of several hundred businesses.
Kathleen has owned a strategic marketing consulting business since 2002, and is delighted to be blending her passion for yoga with her business expertise. She understands the many factors required to run a profitable business and is pleased to be sharing that knowledge with other business owners.
Her approach to business and life is to look upon hurdles as reminders to stay in the present moment, learn the lesson and move forward.
One of her favourite quotes is “If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere”.
